Senior Software Engineer
Job description
- SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER - JAVA - AZURE - DATA MIGRATION - HPCC/ECL - £580 - REMOTE -
I've partnered with a client who are undertaking a big data migration and need a contractor to assist with the project. This project is expected to last until mid-late 2026!
Contract info:
- 6-month initial contract (2026 expected project completion date - extension highly likely)
- £580 INSIDE IR35
- Fully remote
Role info:
- Software Engineer in Data Engineering team
- Java
- Azure (a bit of AWS would be a bonus)
- HPCC/ECL (bonus experience)
- Git - GitLab/GitHub
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
- Hands on experience on Cloud Technologies - Azure/ AWS.
- Ability to work with complex data models.
- Proficiency in development languages including but not limited to: Python, Java, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, UNIX, and JSON.
- Familiarity of industry best practices - code coverage.
- Experience working in software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
- Experience working with Git - GitLab/GitHub.
- Knowledge of test-driven development.
- Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Experience in HPCC/ECL is highly preferable
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
- Complete moderate to complex bug fixes.
- Work closely with other development team members, Quality Analysts and Business to understand product requirements and translate them into software designs.
- Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
- Resolve technical issues as necessary.
- Keep abreast of new technological developments.
- Make major code design and changes to new & existing products and be a primary point of contact for products they develop or own
