Job description

- SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER - JAVA - AZURE - DATA MIGRATION - HPCC/ECL - £580 - REMOTE -

I've partnered with a client who are undertaking a big data migration and need a contractor to assist with the project. This project is expected to last until mid-late 2026!

Contract info:

  • 6-month initial contract (2026 expected project completion date - extension highly likely)
  • £580 INSIDE IR35
  • Fully remote

Role info:

  • Software Engineer in Data Engineering team
  • Java
  • Azure (a bit of AWS would be a bonus)
  • HPCC/ECL (bonus experience)
  • Git - GitLab/GitHub

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Hands on experience on Cloud Technologies - Azure/ AWS.
  • Ability to work with complex data models.
  • Proficiency in development languages including but not limited to: Python, Java, C/C++, HTML, XML, SQL, Windows, UNIX, and JSON.
  • Familiarity of industry best practices - code coverage.
  • Experience working in software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall)
  • Experience working with Git - GitLab/GitHub.
  • Knowledge of test-driven development.
  • Ability and desire to learn new processes and technologies.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Experience in HPCC/ECL is highly preferable

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity.
  • Complete moderate to complex bug fixes.
  • Work closely with other development team members, Quality Analysts and Business to understand product requirements and translate them into software designs.
  • Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders.
  • Resolve technical issues as necessary.
  • Keep abreast of new technological developments.
  • Make major code design and changes to new & existing products and be a primary point of contact for products they develop or own
