The gay rights and Black civil rights movements have long been intertwined. In fact, many refer to the LGBTQ+ movement’s beginning, the rebellion against the police at the Stonewall Inn, as being predominantly instigated by queer and trans youth of colour. However, people of colour have often been omitted from these stories.
