Inclusion Week is upon us, and it provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on what this means for us as individuals, and for our workplaces. As a proudly inclusive employer, one of our central pillars focuses upon DE&I, helping to facilitate both positive conversations and change within our industries and in our own business.
This years’ theme is #UnitedForInclusion and as “inclusioneers”, and this year we are amplifying the amazing voices, experiences and identities of our people. In our daily actions this week, we hope by sharing passages directly from our people, we can amplify what inclusion means to each of us, and recognising the integral part it plays in our business, coming together to amplify a message of strength in numbers.
We commit, 365 days a year, to ensuring everyone feels that they belong, are valued and are empowered in the workplace. We believe that there has always been extraordinary value to any business that embraces a diversity of thoughts, ideas and ways of working that people from different backgrounds, experiences and identities.
By participating in Inclusion Week, we hope to raise awareness and continue to be a part of progressive and important conversations for change.
How can you get involved?
This week builds on a wider mission to raise awareness and empower more businesses to engage with inclusion in sustainable and practical ways.
With this year’s theme focusing on unity, fostering opportunities for everyone to connect and speak with colleagues and teammates is a fantastic way to help build genuine and authentic networks for inclusion.
For the past 10 years, Inclusive Employers has worked with employers to raise the profile of inclusion as an integral part of workplace practice and have become the first and leading membership organisation for employers who are committed to making a lasting difference in their businesses.
This year they have created a toolkit that will help you consider how you can use the #UnitedForInclusion theme to shape your events and activities, asking you questions including:
· What best practice can you share
· What challenges do you have to learn from?
· What steps can you take to overcome them?
They also have a host of free events you can attend over the course of the week:
