National Inclusion Week: Major Players Commitment to Driving Impact through Inclusion

Back to Blogs

National Inclusion Week is upon us, and it provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on what this means for us as individuals, and for our workplaces. As a proud inclusive employer, one of our central pillars focuses upon DE&I, helping to facilitate both positive conversations and change within our industries and in our own business.

This years’ theme is ‘Impact Matters’ is a call-to-action to everyone in your organisation, from leaders, to inclusion professionals through to teams and individuals. Each one of us holds the potential to make a profound and positive impact. ‘Impact Matters’ has a powerful message that centres around understanding, identifying and measuring impact on marginalised groups and taking actions that make for genuine, sustainable change that matters.

At Major Players, we commit 365 days a year to ensuring everyone feels that they belong, are valued and are empowered in the workplace – ensuring that our ‘Authentically Different’ mantra is embedded across the business.

We use data collected from our 2024 Salary Census to provide insights into diversity, equity and inclusion within the Creative Industries, providing a real-time snapshot of what representation looks like, and how this affects remuneration. This year’s data highlights that while progression has been made in some areas, it has regressed in others.

Evidence showcases that businesses that invest into DE&I, not only perform better commercially, but are more innovative, better at problem solving, and are able to attract, engage and retain talent better. By participating in National Inclusion Week, we hope to continue to drive the conversations around greater equity and facilitate positive impacts for everyone.

How can you get involved?

For the past 10 years, Inclusive Employers has worked with employers to raise the profile of inclusion as an integral part of workplace practice and have become the first and leading membership organisation for employers who are committed to making a lasting difference in their businesses.

This year they have created a toolkit (registration required) that will help you consider how you can use the #ImpactMatters theme to shape your events and activities, asking you questions including:

·       What best practice can you share

·       What challenges do you have to learn from?

·       What steps can you take to overcome them?

They also have a host of free events and webinars you can attend over the course of the week:

o   Preparing your business for the future: impact and the tipping point in business accountability - September 25, 2024 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

o   Impact Matters: Exploring Intersectionality in the Workplace - September 26, 2024 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm

We encourage you to share this article with your team, and think about how your impact can matter - not just over National Inclusion Week, but every week.
