We've got a new player in town!

Joe Georgiou recently joined our permanent recruitment team as a Business Manager, covering digital performance, media and ad-ops. He joins us after a 6-month career break travelling South America and learning Spanish. Before that he worked 7 years connecting media agencies, adtech platforms, publishers and brands with top-tier digital talent.

Here's a little more about the man behind the role:

Tell us a little bit about your background

I’m Joe, originally from Birmingham. I moved to Sheffield in 2015 to study Media Production at University and that’s where my interest in the media world began. While studying, I interned at Sheffield Doc/Fest and Warp Films, which gave me a great early insight into the media production side of the industry.

I moved into recruitment in 2018, joining Aspire where I specialised in Digital & Media recruitment. Over the last seven years, I’ve partnered with Media Agencies, Ad Technologies platforms, Publishers and Brands, connecting them with talent. My focus has been across Digital Performance Marketing, Media Planning & Buying, Paid Media (Search, Social, Programmatic, Display) as well as Ad Operations & AdTech. It’s been a great to work with so many great people in the industry.

What team have you joined, and what will you be responsible for?

I’ve joined the Digital team, focusing on Digital Performance Marketing, Media Planning and Ad Operations. My remit is permanent recruitment, partnering with clients to build high-performing, future-proof digital teams.

What excites you most about joining Major Players?

Having spent seven years at my previous company, choosing the right next move was important to me. I was looking for somewhere I could see a long-term future.

Major Players has always been a historic and respected brand within marketing, digital and creative recruitment. I’ve been impressed by the culture, the BCorp status and the commitment to inclusivity both internally and externally. Most importantly though, it was the people. The energy, ambition and collaborative approach stood out.

I was fortunate enough to receive five offers during my search, but Major Players came out on top, it just felt like the right place to grow and build something long-term.

What trends are you seeing in your area of expertise or the wider talent market right now?

The advertising market has evolved in response to economic pressures and businesses are being more strategic with hiring.

Within digital and media, there’s increasing demand for commercially minded talent with strong data literacy, professionals who can analyse performance, understand consumer behaviour and optimise campaigns based on insight rather than instinct.

Candidates with experience across multiple channels and a strong understanding of integrated media strategies (digital and traditional) are really standing out.

Outside of work, whatdo you like to get up to?

Outside of work, I love to travel, go to music festivals and stay active. I’m currently training for my first marathon in April, which is keeping me busy! I spend alot of time with friends and family - I’m also a massive Aston Villa fan!

What is a song you can counton to get your creative juices flowing?

Fool's Gold, The Stone Roses

And finally… What’s one thing people should know about you that isn’t on your CV?

I’m a qualified personal trainer.
