It’s been a tough few weeks and in the backdrop of Covid-19, our staff have been really inspirational. It’s been a difficult decision for us to have to furlough some of our team, but we are doing everything we can to support them so they can return when things pick-up. Businesses will be defined on how they treat their staff through this crisis and we’re doing everything we can to put them first.
After an incredibly long stint at our HQ in Endell Street, our lease has come to an end and we will soon be waving goodbye to the legacy of our old office; but we are staying loyal to Covent Garden and moving to a much better space, around the corner. We are all very excited and looking forward to opening the doors and having the team reunited once again.
The market has been tricky. We have seen permanent recruitment take a hit, but on the positive side freelancers are still in demand and most of our briefs are in digital, tech, social, data and performance marketing. In extreme economic uncertainty, staffing can fall down the list of priorities. But in any downturn it’s a crucial part of staying ahead and ensuring you’re in the best position to rebound when market bounces back, which I feel could be much sooner that anticipated.
Many of our clients have had to make difficult decisions, as we have. Companywide remote-working, furloughs and volume redundancies are relatively new for most; meaning these processes are unlikely to be in place for many companies. Our team are working hard to support and consult on onboarding, interview process advice, salary survey guidance and even helping those looking for work with CV writing for those made redundant.
I’m also incredibly proud of our charity initiative. We are working with our network of creative, digital and tech experts, to introduce volunteers to charities across the UK to help them with expertise to support them throughout the crisis. Now is the time for charities to get digitally creative with their fundraising and we want to support them.
We are currently using this time to look at our business and we are considering a much more flexible working approach. We introduced unlimited holiday a couple of years ago and are ready for some more bold and pioneering approaches to the way we work. Now is the time for radical change.
We hope that you, your staff and your family and friends are doing well and in the meantime, please, take care and stay safe.
