Product Manager - Design Engineering


As a Product Manager you will own one or more products and be responsible for leading the full product life-cycle; owning the vision, strategy and roadmap.


You’ll take your product from ideation and discovery through design, delivery, launch, measuring success, and iteration.


Working closely with engineering, you are ultimately responsible for making sure they are building the right things for customers of your products.

While there will be plenty of strong opinions across our business about what the right thing to build is, you and your team are responsible for quickly evaluating these ideas, using data and experimentation, to determine what the right thing to build for their customers is and business.


About Design Engineering


The mission of the Design Engineering team is to provide their customers with a single, unified and seamless experience through a library of components. They will look after the design system as well as creating scalable systems for front-end implementation. The goal is to speed up design and delivery via the easy re-use of common components while creating a consistent and scalable design across customer experiences. This team will work closely with Brand, Content, other ProdEng teams and stakeholders across the business to manage performance, consistency and usability of design across our teams. As the Design System Product Manager you’ll focus on making sure our design system is taking on the right challenges and scaling to meet the needs of our multiple teams. Because of the breadth of improvements that can be made in this area; this role focuses on prioritising what will have the most impact, working closely with stakeholders to understand their problems, and being creative in defining and delivering great solutions.


Product Discovery


Work with your customers, team and stakeholders to identify problems to solve or opportunities for growth in the design engineering area.

Formulate the vision, strategy and roadmap for your product area, ensuring alignment of strategic priorities and roadmap across entire product portfolio

Run collaborative sessions to determine and prioritise key customer outcomes

Lead product discovery, collaborating with UX, User Research, Engineering and key business Subject Matter Experts

Utilising rapid experimentation via a toolbox of techniques (e.g., user testing, concierge tests, prototypes, fake doors, wizard-of-oz, demand tests, A/B or MVT, etc.) you should be comfortable with product and user research

Determine what the right thing to build is for your customers and business partners – supported by data and evidence – as quickly and cheaply as possible

Work with the business, technical and product teams to understand the needs of your customers

Champion solutions that work for our customers and the business
