Managing Editor

**NEW ROLE**

Calling all experienced Managing Editors!

We are working with a luxury interior design publication to find an experienced and motivated Managing Editor to join the team at an exciting time in the brand’s journey!

We are looking for someone with a passion for interior design who can be right hand to the Editor-in-Chief, this position will be a pivotal role in relation to the whole editorial team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Chairing weekly visuals and features meetings and attending project meetings as required.
  • Drafting the skeleton plan for future issues.
  • Maintaining financial control of all editorial operating and contents costs under the guidance of the Editor-in-Chief and the Finance team. 
  • Editorial Business on budgets, invoices and contracts and photographers’ agreements.
  • The PR team to curate what might be of interest to the press.
  • Production on scheduling and quality.
  • Working with the Finance and Accounts team on forecasting and cost reviews.
  • Office maintenance with Logistics and IT departments.
  • Maintaining a close working relationship with the EIC, in particular during periods of travel. 
  • Recruiting editors and freelance staff to ensure the team operates effectively and efficiently.
  • Mentoring staff to develop talent, managing staff holidays, sicknesses and editorial expenses, and dealing with general complaints and ad-hoc queries.
  • Checking commissions and reading copy for libel, and liaising with barristers for legal advice where necessary.
  • Working closely with the team to ensure daily, weekly and monthly targets are met.
  • Maintaining a good working relationship with the Commercial teams and supporting promotions work as necessary.

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive editorial experience in newspaper, magazine and digital journalism.
  • A meticulous eye for detail and accuracy. 
  • Previous digital experience is necessary.
  • Strong people manager, comfortable with being the go-to person for the Editorial team.
  • Wide experience of team management, budgets, finance reports and production.
  • Calm under pressure, with the ability to solve problems in a calm and efficient manner.
  • Exceptional organisational and time-management skills, including the ability to multitask.
  • An analytical mind and be highly numerate.

Salary

  • Annual Salary £60,000
