Creative Comeback - Returnship


Have you been off for an extended career break? Want to come back to your creative career? Major Players are partnering with Creative Equals who are offering a 8-day programme from March 2-12 in Central London in conjunction with D&AD and Diageo. Creative Equals' aim is to make sure you are armed with the tools, knowledge and confidence to secure full-time or freelance employment in today's market, in a role that works for you.

We're looking for art directors, copywriters, creative directors, UX designers, designers and concept creatives who have been off work for at least 15 months and would like to ignite their career.

This is an inclusive programme. Our focus is on self-identifying women, as this area is least represented, but we also welcome all genders. We know ageism is real for everyone.

The Criteria

1 You've been on a career break for at least 15 months (parenthood, illness, caring break, travelling, etc)
2 You need to be prepared to be work-ready with your support structures in place to be able to attend the course every day (this is also applies to if you secure a paid contract after the training programme)
3 You must be able to travel into London for all of the designated days and times
4 You must be prepared to take on a 'returnship' placement within a month of completing our course
5 You have previous experience in a creative role.

The #CreativeComeback Programme is split into two sections: The Bootcamp Course to get you up to speed, and possibly a placement where you gain supported experience back into work.

The Recruitment Phase

We're accepting applications for our 2020 cohort, of which there are 35 spaces. We'll review each application, and successful applicants will be invited to participate on a short brief, so we can see how you think and what creativity means to you.

The Upskill Bootcamp + Pitch This 8-day, London based course is taught by the best and most experienced in adland. Split into two parts.

Part One: The Bootcamp

* Fostering a growth mindset, creative courage and resilience
* Trends from the D&AD Awards
* What's new in digital and technology (covering voice, search, blockchain, AR/VR, etc)
* How to create for social including all the details in between (like short-form ad formats and ad serving)
* Take a brief (apply new technology and thinking)
* Selling your ideas to a CMO
* Pitching and presenting your work
* What employers are looking for
* Meeting prospective employers

Part Two: The Pitch

* You'll be given a real client brief, go into an agency to work on the brief using your new skills and will pitch back to the client.

The Returnship

After the course, you may have the opportunity of a four-week paid 'returnship' to upskill on the job with one of our partners at the London Living Wage (of £100 a day) plus caring allowances (up to £50 a day), as needed. Once your returnship period is complete, what you charge is up to you. We have limited returnships available and can't guarantee a returnship for everyone, though we're working on finding sponsorship for more!
