We've found our clients are increasingly looking for candidates who are able to add value by providing insights into new methods. This was especially prevalent within the digital arena as more research agencies moved collection methods online, while in-house teams required more of a focus towards web analytics. One positive the recession has produced is that it has shown how crucial research/data is to future decisions made by organisations - no longer will decisions be made by gut feeling. This will also lead on to companies ensuring they keep hold of their best talent as the graduate in take last year was minimal and the talent pool in the research industry will have been lessened.
