My client is looking for a dynamic, committed and motivated professional to drive the PR strategy for the energy strand of our business. This key role requires an exceptional candidate who is able to deliver high levels of impactful PR coverage and punch above their weight in terms of influencing policy and decision-makers. Identify and implement a PR strategy that enhances the companies' reputation by increasing awareness and understanding of its work among key external audiences, including consumers, regulators and suppliers.
Support the public affairs programme - keeping affordable bills, consumer education and the benefits of a fully-functioning competitive market at the top of the political agenda. Advise on consultation responses to help ensure that our business is able to shape its trading and political environment.
Strengthen the companies' position as a consumer champion, working with the PR team and wider marketing team to build the brand. Ensure campaigns are integrated into the wider marketing mix including web content, social media and email marketing.
Identify appropriate key messages and deliver campaigns that target these messages at the right audiences.
Monitor industry developments and the news agenda to identify opportunities for comment.
Anticipate and identify issues that could adversely impact the company and provide appropriate counsel to mitigate risks and safeguard our reputation.
Cultivate strong relationships with media and other key stakeholders to deliver messages confidently and regularly, positively and accurately.
Effectively manage the PR agency`s activities to maximise value and reach agreed targets.
Support, train and motivate spokespeople to ensure that they deliver our key messages confidently and effectively.
At least ten years` experience of effective media relations, including building and maintaining relationships with journalists, researching stories, identifying media angles and writing compelling press releases.
Experience in the energy industry and good knowledge of its complex sector challenges. Ability to communicate complicated issues effectively to consumers and other key stakeholders.
Highly-skilled at setting strategies, objectives and key messages - must have a proven track record of devising and implementing consumer campaigns that deliver results.
Ability to spot a good story and turn an opportunity into press coverage. Speed to market with a story must be key.
Excellent writing skills - able to articulate messages clearly and concisely in an engaging style and with attention to detail.
Proactive, fully aware of the macro environment and how this will affect the business.
Excellent at networking with other PR teams and industry bodies, must be able to influence other parties to support our company vision.
