What are the salaries like?
“As a grad you can expect to start on around £20k but it really does vary depending on what area you specialise in. Once you're established the average salary is about £40k."

What about the working environment?
"If you're working for an agency as a qualitative researcher then you could be working very late as you'll be at your client's beck and call, but you will usually get paid for any overtime. If you're a quantitative researcher standard hours tend to apply, so 9 til 6."

Do you need a degree?
“Generally most clients will just want to see that you have a good degree (usually a 2:1) from a good university. A lot of our candidates tend to have studied something psychology related or a subject with an element of market research to it, but its not essential.”

What key skills and personality traits do you need?
“For qualitative work you'll need to be a good listener and for quantitative you'll need to be highly numerate with a commercial awareness”

What is the scope like for career progression?
"Again this will vary, but the average time before promotions is around 2-3 years, this will obviously slow down the further up the food chain you get though."
