job seeker tips

Keep on the case and improve your prospects for the future

Interviews can be a daunting time for any job seeker. So here are some top tips for making the best of the whole process!

Not got time for a video? Check out the main points below…

Getting feedback
"At your interview you should get an indication as to how long you’ll have to wait for feedback. If you don’t, get in touch, preferably by phone – it adds a more personal touch and you get to speak to them directly."

Patience is a virtue
"If you’ve tried calling and still haven’t had any feedback, don’t bombard them – it can be off-putting and make you look a bit desperate, which you don’t want to do! Leave them a message on the phone and email them, then start to look at social media sites, for example LinkedIn is a good way of contacting people without looking too keen."

What to do with feedback
"If it’s positive, fantastic! But if not, try not to take it personally and get some constructive feedback. It can be useful for changing your interview technique or finding out any particular experience or skills you’re lacking which you can actively build on for next time. It can also be an opportunity to let them know of any relevant experience you didn’t get to talk about in the interview, which could even change their mind and win you another interview. The main thing is to not let your emotions get the better of you – keep it professional; stick to the facts and your skills and experience."

Why go with an agency?
"We would recommend that you go through an agency like Major Players because we spend a lot of time building up relationships with the agencies and companies we work with, and we know them really well. We also spend time getting to know our candidates, so we’re much better placed to that negotiating for you, and getting and giving feedback from both sides."
