Make the most out of your digital technical portfolio

Having a portfolio is something that is becoming increasingly important within the digital technical sector. Our clients regularly ask for examples of work from our candidates and a portfolio is the best way to offer this. So, here are some tips on how to get it right from Borz Fahani, Major Players recruiter for digital technical jobs.

Not got time for a video? Check out the main points below…

Keep it simple
“An online portfolio doesn’t need to look easy on the eye, we’re not looking for outstanding art direction, it needs to be clear and simple, offering examples of your work.”

Pick the best bits
“Pick around five of your best pieces and give a brief synopsis of what you did for each project and the skills you used."

Include code samples
“It’s understandable  that you may be a little apprehensive out dishing out your code samples, but it’s really important to have them available as clients will ask for them  – so put them on there but make sure that they are password protected.”

Links
“Remember, it’s not your CV so don’t clog up your front page with descriptions and work history, put these on separate links. Your front page should be like a big advert for you and your work not reams of information.”
