Establishing yourself as a freelancer within digital technical can be tough but incredibly rewarding, so we spoke to Tim Diggle a successful freelance Flash Developer to get some tips on how to succeed.
Not got time to watch a video? Then check out the main points below... How did you get into the industry "I actually started off doing a degree in software engineering but decided I wanted to pursue a career in the music industry. It didn't quite pan out how I expected so I decided to try to get back into IT but my skills were pretty out of date, so instead I started creating games as a hobby and then began to do one-off projects for a cult gaming website. Eventually the projects got bigger, I was developing for films and tv - then I had enough experience to start freelancing." What do you need "Obviously skills are important but it is just as essential to have a passion for technology development - there is no point pursuing it as a career, especially freelance if you're not passionate about it"
Working with clients "Firstly it's really important to go in with a smile on your face. Secondly, challenge yourself, if you don't know how to do something that a client has asked for then why not google it and try to learn it."
